Physicians Serving Physicians and the Physicians Wellness Collaborative
Founded in 1981, Physicians Serving Physicians was created by physicians in recovery to support colleagues and their families facing substance use disorders. Over four decades, the program supported more than 1,000 physicians on their path to recovery and return to practice.
In 2018, we launched the Physicians Wellness Collaborative, offering confidential counseling and wellness resources to nearly 1,000 physicians, advanced practice providers, residents, fellows, and medical students.
Due to declining financial support, both programs have now concluded. The Physicians Wellness Collaborative ended in June 2024, and monthly meetings for Physicians Serving Physicians concluded in July 2025, marking the close of a long-standing commitment to peer support and physician well-being.
